SPMS strengthens its commitment to innovation in digital health by joining the European initiative EUVAC (European Digital Vaccination Card), which aims to develop a pilot for the implementation, integration, and operationalisation of a European Digital Vaccination Card, leveraging the MyHealth@EU services.
This initiative, co-funded by the EU4Health programme, seeks to create an autonomous digital document that will enable European citizens to securely and reliably store, manage, and present their immunisation data.
EUVAC will build on the successful experience of the EU Digital COVID Certificate, taking advantage of the widespread use of smartphones and QR code technologies. The project aims to improve the accessibility of vaccination records, establish secure systems that comply with data privacy standards, and strengthen the services offered by the MyHealth@EU infrastructure.
SPMS’s participation in this European initiative will not only allow to monitor and influence the implementation model of the European vaccination card, but also ensure its alignment with national interests and strategies. Furthermore, this action is aligned with other initiatives in which SPMS is involved, such as the Global Digital Health Certification Network of the World Health Organization, Xt-EHR (Extended EHR@EU Data Space for Primary Use) joint action and the POTENTIAL (PilOTS for the EuropeaN Digital Identity wALlet) project, consolidating its leadership position in the development of Digital Health strategies and in the development of the upcoming European Health Data Space.
The implementation of the European Digital Vaccination Card will represent a significant step forward in the management of vaccination information at both national and cross-border levels, benefiting both citizens and healthcare professionals in participating countries.
